A Drop of Ocean in the City.
A Drop of Ocean
in the City.
Shoe® teamed up with artist Delfina Carmona to create a series of images centered on the power of the body as a fluid element in the chaos of the city. The project wants to reflect the importance of human actions in society as little waves that can change the planet for the better. The body is interpreted here as water, calm yet unpredictable, to celebrate and support World Oceans Day on June 8th.
The ocean covers over 70% of the planet. It is our life source, supporting humanity’s sustenance and that of every other organism on earth.
Between 4 and 12 million metric tons of plastic enter the ocean each year.
Each year, close to 20 billion plastic bottles are thrown away after a single-use.
Amount of big ocean fish that we have lost in the last century
Amount of the global fish stocks that are overfished and the amount of fresh water fish are threatened
Delfina was born in Buenos Aires but she’s recently moved to Berlin with her partner Momo Scacchi. From this lively and unconventional city, together they give us a poetic and conceptual vision of water that’s always around us, behind every corner, not only in the vastness of the ocean. Thinking of water as our own body means being aware we are now floating among plastics and that’s the greatest threat to the ocean’s health worldwide. Carrying a reusable bottle in our bag is the first act of kindness we all should do to protect the ocean.
